Building Resilience - one piece at a time

APEN members and Lincoln youth show off their creations in front of the Wa Sung community mural created in the 1970’s by Lincoln Elementary students when the rec center was first built.

On September 5, 2025, APEN’s Climate Resilience Action Team met at Lincoln Square Park to create new public art for Lincoln Square Park.

APEN seniors and Lincoln elementary students got crafty and designed mosaics inspired by climate and community resilience.

Participants were able to build connections with each other and across generations, while contributing their artistic talents to improving the park. The rocks will be “planted” in the Alice street corridor on the East side of the park. The mosaic rocks will ad art, color and joy to the park landscaping.

Asian Pacific Environmental Network (APEN) and Friends of Lincoln Square Park co-hosted this event with generous funding from a Partners for Places grant and the California Endowment. Partners for Places grant and the California Endowment.
