Public Meeting: Public Art approved at Lincoln Park

On May 20, 2025, The Oakland City Council unanimously passed the 2025-2027 Public Art Program Projects Plan which included permanent public art commissions at Lincoln Recreation Center as one of ten Capital Improvement Program projects.

$260,000 was allocated in the plan for Public Art from the Public Works Agency, Measure KK, and State Grants.

May 13, 2025 - Staff presentation to the Life Enrichment Committee

Bay Area artists or artist teams will develop public art projects for two locations in the Lincoln Recreation Center currently under construction. The City will target outreach to the Artist Roster candidates including artists residing in the Chinatown and the District 2 community, and graduates of the “CSIG” Public Art Workshops. Permanent artwork in durable materials such as tile, mosaic or porcelain enamel will be located near the entrance of the new recreation center and/or within the new gymnasium and public lobby areas. Artwork will be developed with community / stakeholder input.
