Recap: Emergency Preparedness Trainings 個人急難準備訓練

In an emergency, self-reliance is key. Are you ready? This was the question that drew in 192 community members to Personal Emergency Preparedness trainings held at Lincoln Square Park in May, 2025. The three trainings held in May was provided in both English, and Chinese and participants all went home with a wealth of information, practical tips and FREE emergency go-bags.

The trainings were held in partnership by: Oakland Parks, Rec and Youth Development, Oakland Office of Emergency Services, Asian Pacific Environmental Network, and Friends of Lincoln Square Park.

During this workshop, presented by the City’s Office of Emergency Services, participants learned how to: 

  • Identify and anticipate hazards

  • Better support yourself, your family and your neighborhood 

  • Apply basic lifesaving skills

  • Access community emergency information 

  • Make your home and workplace safer

In addition to the training, Volunteers and City staff provided attendees with 1-1 support signing up for Alameda County emergency alert system.‍ ‍
