Climate Resilience + Disaster Recovery

More people are learning about our new recreation and resilience center thanks to Veronika Cole, who recently shared our story on a webinar with a national reach, sponsored by FUSE and the Urban Institute.

Veronika Cole is currently an Emergency Planning Coordinator for the City of Oakland. In 2022 she was a FUSE Fellow in the City Administrator’s office and helped advance the City’s Recreation and Resilience Hub project.

During her FUSE fellowship, Veronika worked close with Friends of Lincoln Square Park, APEN, and other community partners to help raise funds, strengthen our resilience programming, and deepen partnerships with community stakeholders. This work helped support the city’s goal of ensuring that all of Oakland’s communities are resilient to the foreseeable impacts of climate change by 2030.

In addition to this webinar, FUSE also featured our recreation and resilience hub in an article in 2023.

FUSE is a national nonprofit dedicated to increasing the capacity of local governments to engage communities and work more effectively for everyone.
